Words from our clients, Tony and Jack Sharp
1. What promoted your decision to build?
The main reason we decided to build our oak frame garage is because we needed an office we could work from but also somewhere to keep our car collection. Most important of all we wanted it to look pretty and be in-keeping with the family home and surrounding area: Oakwrights’ garage buildings excel at all three.
2. Why did you choose to build your garage with Oakwrights?
We chose to build with oak as we had to keep the garage in-keeping with the existing property and we also love how the oak silvers over time and has the appearance very quickly that is has been there for years.
We looked at many different companies on our journey, but we decided to go with Oakwrights because we felt they really cared about the design and listened to us about what was important to our project. They helped us change around things to make it suit our working needs yet keeping it stylish and adding a few bespoke touches to make it very special indeed.
3. What key features did your bespoke oak frame design have to include?
The key features we wanted were a practical yet design-lead office area where we could have two working stations. This was achieved with some thought through window layouts and also adding some Velux windows above to let the light flood in.
Also being keen petrol heads we wanted to be able to look into our garage and enjoy the cars and exposed oak beams. This was created by Oakwrights with the inclusion of three glass windows installed between our office and garage, so when sending emails we can do it with smiles on our faces.
4. How have you benefitted from your oak framed garage?
We benefit from our garage in so many ways; from just simply looking out of the kitchen window to polishing the cars inside in the dry, working from there and also the children are able to play basketball in the open bay. It’s a huge asset to the property and it wouldn’t be the same without it now.
We purchased the property and did a complete makeover on it from day one. We then got in touch with Oakwrights and started working with George Allen (a Regional Design Consultant here at Oakwrights) on the design and getting booked in. We had seen Oakwrights at the shows over the years and knew that when the right house came along, we would be putting one of their buildings on the plot.
We can’t pick one thing we love the most, the whole oak frame building just works and is a pleasure to be in and around!
