Step 1: Making contact If you would like to create additional living space at home and you are interested in exploring your options in terms of designing your dream oak frame garage or outbuilding, there are many ways you can contact us to begin your journey: Call our team on 01432 353 353 Email enquiries@configurator-oakwrights.nzi.me Complete an online enquiry form Message our Facebook, Twitter or Instagram pages.
Step 2: Meet your local design consultant Having received your enquiry, your local Oakwrights Design Consultant will get in touch to arrange a meeting with you. During this time, you can talk through your ideas and they will share their expertise, discussing all the possibilities for your future garage or outbuilding. If you have a garage design in mind, you can use our online Garage Configurator tool to turn your ideas for your oak frame garage into a visual reality for the first time. Then, depending on the size and style you may be considering, your Design Consultant will show you our range of single story garages or our garages with rooms above. From here, you may choose one of our design templates or you may wish to use it as a starting point to base your bespoke design on. For oak frame outbuildings, such as garden barns and annexes, your Design Consultant will work with you to pinpoint key features and requirements which will provide the foundations for your tailored design.
Step 3: Design Taking into account your wish list and requirements for your new build, your Design Consultant will produce a design which encompasses your ideas, space and budget. This will be sent to you for your consideration, along with a non-binding quote, which will give you clear breakdown of the services and products we will be providing you with to create your dream garage or outbuilding.
Step 4: Planning Your design may fall under permitted development rights or need planning permission, and so your Design Consultant will advise you on the best route for your build during the design process. If planning permission is required, we can complete and submit the application for you and prepare a Building Regulations package on your behalf. To discover more about permitted development rights and planning permission, we have answered the most frequently asked questions within the below blogs: Permitted development FAQs Planning permission FAQs
Step 5: Contract drafted If planning was required for your new build and approval has been received, we will draft a contract for you to sign and ask for a deposit for your order.
Step 6: 3D Survey Your design will then be sent to our Frame Design team, who will create a technical 3D model drawing of your garage or outbuilding. This is an exciting step in your journey, as you are a step closer to the day when your build will be constructed! This drawing will be sent to you for your approval. 8 Step 8: Oak framing Having been delivered to our Herefordshire workshops, your oak will go through our K2i Hundegger cutting machine. Cut with precision, our team of Craftsmen will then put your frame together by hand to ensure everything fits perfectly and is finished to the finest detail.
Step 9: Delivery Unassembled, your oak frame garage or outbuilding will be carefully transported to your home on an agreed date and put up by our experienced site teams!* *If you are designing a garage with us and you have planned to construct the oak frame yourself, we can simply supply you with the kit.
