Oak frame commercial buildings

Oak frame commercial buildings

Timber structures, especially oak barn style buildings, lend themselves not only to storage and agricultural functions but also to beautiful open spaced oak framed commercial buildings. These styles of buildings have for some time now been recreated on many an occasion by Oakwrights for wedding barns and event spaces, but more recently our Oak frames have been used for the likes of restaurants, farm shops, cookery schools and pubs.

Fuller’s Brewery Oak Barn

Fullers Brewery commissioned us to recreate a tidal barn at Cams Mill in Fareham, which was demolished around 1900. When the brewery was granted permission to build a new pub on the condition that the original style of the old barn was recreated, we used the old paintings and photos available to us and were able to design and build a frame that met this criterion.

The Stables Restaurant Oak Frame Building

The stables restaurant chain, also part owned by Fullers, then commissioned us once again to build an extension to their harbour side bar in Plymouth, serving pizza, pies and West Country Cider. The beautiful oak frame complements the furnishings and provides a pleasant backdrop for customers as they dine by the water.

Brook Bar & Bistro Oak Frame Destination

The Brook Bar & Bistro venture saw us convert what was a tired mill into a magnificent destination. Darwin Escapes offer holiday home ownership and UK holiday breaks at their various resorts around the UK. A boutique range of superior quality lodge retreats can be found in a beautiful idyllic setting on the outskirts of the Roman and Heritage City of Bath.

Chewton Glen Cookery School

Cookery School Chewton Glen Spa Hotel recently opened its new Cookery School, pioneered by TV Chef James Martin, known for his 10 years of hosting the BBC’S Saturday Kitchen. When looking to create their perfect teaching space, they enlisted the help of ourselves to design and construct the Oak frame roof to the new building earlier this year. Guests can now book cookery courses which James and his team run from the newly built school.

Waitrose Oak Framed Farm Shop

Waitrose recently became the first large food store to open a farm shop, where visitors can buy locally sourced produce or dine in the café, which serves breakfast and lunch. Oakwrights were enlisted in the build to design the frame, with the brief to create a unique barn-style commercial building that reflected the uniqueness of the venture itself and to give the shop character and charm.
