Here at Oakwrights, we personalise the services we provide our clients with to ensure their vision is brought to life. So, when we launched our single storey, oak frame annexe offering, we knew it was important to create a design with a floorplan, fixtures and finishes that could be tailored to your taste.
Oak frame annexes are not only aesthetically beautiful; their beauty shines through the many amazing ways they can be utilised, which the following blog explores…
Supplementary accommodation
Would you like to create additional living space at home? Somewhere that is detached from your house and self-contained but still harnesses that all-important homely feeling?
With the Governments’ roadmap in place, our oak frame annexe offering, which you can view by clicking here, provides you with the perfect setting to invite family and friends to stay, taking the pressure off your living spaces at home. You may also plan to run an Airbnb or Bed or Breakfast from your annexe which you can discuss with your local Oakwrights design consultant.
For a more permanent accommodation solution, an oak frame annexe could also function as a home for relatives, such as elderly parents or children returning from University, offering privacy and independence while being just a short garden stroll and a knock on the door away!
A home office
Many of us may have adapted our usual way of working over the past year, and looking ahead, perhaps you may find that working from home is the ‘new norm’. In place of walking to your car to drive to work in the morning, imagine stepping out of the door, with a warm drink in hand, to your garden annexe office!
Does this sound like your cup of tea (of coffee!)? What is brilliant about our oak frame annexe design, is that it provides you with a starting point on which you can create a space that is right for you. So, whether your floorplan needs to incorporate a light and airy client meeting area, along with desk space and perhaps facilities such as a kitchen and/or WC, or if another layout will work better for you, please contact us to speak with a design consultant who can help you to create an annexe that ticks all your boxes.
A hobby room
Would you benefit from designing a separate space at home where you can immerse yourself in your favourite hobby? Somewhere close by that will enable you to free-up other living space at home?
From a home gym or an artist studio which benefits from amazing views through your face glazing, to a family room for everyone to make the most of at different times of the day; the possibilities for your oak framed annexe really are endless!
A place for indoor-outdoor entertaining
When determining the look of your annexe, it is important to consider how the exterior of your bespoke design could work for you too! For example, if you plan to primarily use your new build as a home office, could you create an alfresco dining area outside, sheltered by a canopy or catslide roof? So, when you close your office door for the day or you invite guests to your home, there is a tranquil, outdoor space ready for you to relax in, whatever the time of year! This brings a whole new meaning to achieving a work-life balance!
… Or, perhaps your annexe needs to quite literally serve multiple purposes!
We understand how important it is for your oak frame design to work for you now and in the future. If you have multiple uses for your annexe in mind, such as an en-suite, one bedroom studio come yoga space, your design consultant will work with you to determine the number of bays and the exact specification you will need. That is the beauty of our annexe offering; it can be completely tailored to you.
Your annexe will either fall under permitted development rights or will require planning permission, depending on details such as its size and purpose(s). Your design consultant will advise you on the most appropriate route for your build.
