Third win for Webbs Meadow

Webbs Meadow made it a hat-trick of triumphs when it scooped The Daily Telegraph Homebuilding & Renovating Award for Best Custom Build 2023 in December.

This latest success adds to the Build It award it won for best custom build site in November 2022 and October’s Structural Timber Award for Custom and Self Build Project of the Year 2023.

Sitting in the pretty rural village of Lyonshall, Webbs Meadow is a great example of a partnership development. Its 13 unique oak frame houses are the culmination of landowner Kinsey Hern and Oakwrights’ shared vision.

Plot passports

Webbs Meadow’s plot passports were key to its success. These pre-approved plans allow owners to incorporate their own individual styles to their properties. So, owners of houses ranging from two- to five bedrooms had enough freedom to create the home of their dreams while ensuring they worked well with neighbouring houses and sympathetic to their surroundings.

Those surroundings include the established village’s numerous oak frame houses, which made Oakwrights the perfect partner for a landowner with a strong connection to Lyonshall.

Excellent solution

Oakwrights’ founder and chairman Tim Crump says: “We’re absolutely delighted with this latest win for Webbs Meadow. Custom build sites like this offer an excellent solution for people who want to build the home of their dreams with minimal hassle. Homeowners don’t have to find a plot or apply for planning permission with custom builds. All that’s taken care of. They can simply concentrate on what they like most – creating the home of their dreams. For these reasons, I feel sure custom build sites will become more and more popular.”

Helping people fulfil their dreams at Webbs Meadow

James Buchanan, head of custom build at Oakwrights, adds: “This is another fantastic win for Webbs Meadow. It’s been a joy to work on this development. For me, it was all about helping people fulfil their dreams. That meant everything from advice on revising their plans to helping them find the best local suppliers and tradespeople to work with.

“This continuous dialogue with homeowners really helped bring everyone together. There’s a real community spirit at Webbs Meadow and I look forward to working on new phases on this development as well as others elsewhere. The concept of custom build is definitely a winner, as this latest success proves.”

The Daily Telegraph Homebuilding & Renovating Awards has been showcasing and celebrating Britain’s best properties for over 30 years.
