Christmas has arrived a few weeks early here at Oakwrights HQ, as we were announced the winners of both the ‘Best Sustainable Technology or Product’ and ‘Best Oak Frame Home’ categories at this year’s Build It Awards.
The 2019 Build It Awards, in association with Buildstore, is an annual celebration that recognises innovation and excellence in the custom and self-build home sector. Held at the Hilton Bankside in London on 29th November, the evening brought together the best in the industry; from independent self-builders to Architects, manufacturers and key industry leaders. This year in particular was a big year for hosts Build It, as they celebrate their 30th birthday.
‘Best Sustainable Technology or Product’ category winners We submitted our unique WrightWall and WrightRoof Natural encapsulation into the ‘Best Sustainable Technology or Product’ category. Designed alongside the oak frame to offer a truly bespoke fit, our encapsulation system provides excellent thermal performance while also meeting Passivhaus levels of insulation through enhanced levels of air-tightness. Helping to reduce our clients’ household bills for years to come, we’re thrilled that our WrightWall and WrightRoof Natural encapsulation system has received this recognition in such a competitive category.
‘Best Oak Framed Home’ category winners Our clients and homeowners, Darren and Rachel Luke, were awarded ‘Best Oak Frame Home’ for their unique self-build in Worcestershire. Having lived in the existing house that sat on their plot for 17 years, the Luke’s, alongside one of our Regional Architectural Designers, John Williams, put in for planning permission to build their dream, now award-winning, home.
Darren and Rachel said “There is nothing we would change; this house has exceeded all our expectations. You can’t make an omelette without breaking a few eggs and it has been so worth it. I wake up and have to pinch myself; I can’t believe the house is ours! We are so very proud of our achievement.”
In this category, the judges were looking at the overall design, efficiency and how the structural system contributed to this project’s success. Our success at the Build It Awards on Friday evening marks our fourth award win in the past three months, having won the Herald Property Awards and the Daily Telegraph Homebuilding & Renovating Awards with our Kilpatrick property. This is a remarkable achievement to take with us into 2020.
