When building your dream or forever home, it is sensible to consider the ongoing running costs and day-to-day comfort of your home. Oakwrights can help you deliver a house which is both cost effective to run and provides an exceptional internal environment through the integration of Passivhaus design principles.
Passivhaus is a rigorous standard for building designs. Passivhauses often use 90 per cent less heating and cooling energy than a typical home. They are so well designed and insulated that a full, traditional heating system is not considered necessary.
We delivered the first certified oak-framed Passivhaus in the country, supported by Certified Passive House Consultant, David Bryan.
When building a house to Passivhaus standard your house will benefit from:
The oak frame is wrapped in a specific version of our encapsulation system, WrightWall Natural. The joist panels come pre-installed with membranes and battening on the inside for pipes and cables. This bypasses the need to penetrate the airtight layer.
We explain these principles in more detail with you. You can integrate the low-energy principles of Passivhaus design, even if full certification is not your target.
To gain inspiration for your oak frame build and learn more about how we can help you, download an electronic copy of any of our brochures immediately or you can also request a printed hardcopy version to keep handy for the coffee table or to keep with you on your travels. We have 3 brochures that cover specific types of timber building. These include oak homes, outbuildings (inc. garages) and extensions.
