One oak house style, six oak frame design templates
Based on a three-bay core, our barn range comprises six country homes that reflect a barn-style appearance. Varying in size, each design offers a spacious open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting room, while comprising a large central ‘face glazed’ picture window that opens up to the back garden. The face glazing allows natural daylight to spill into the living areas throughout the day. Each design consists of a minimum of 3 bedrooms, ranging from 150m² to 250m², with the option of a garden room that can be added based on the situation of the house.
Internally, you can create anything from a contemporary to a traditional aesthetic. All six designs can be stripped to a base aisle-frame oak structure, with less oak visible internally, or your oak frame can be up-scaled to a full post-and-beam style.
A structural softwood lean-to can be built from the main three-bay core where oak may not be necessary in the more ancillary areas such as the utility/ boot room, or WC. Surrounding your oak frame will be a super insulated large format structural insulated panel system that incorporates our WrightWall & Roof systems. Our WrightWall system allows for impressively high levels of energy efficiency, insulation and airtightness.
When creating your barn style home a mixture of contemporary design and vernacular trends can be incorporated. Half-hips, hips and crown roofs can be added to give extra character, all pending the local surroundings. Externally, each design can be roofed with slate, tiles, or a material of your choice, and the walls enclosed with either brick, stone, render, tile hanging or weatherboarding. A varying combination of the above can also be used depending on your needs and planning requirements.
